Blogging in the Literacy Classroom

Description: Writers get better at writing by…writing! A class blog is the perfect way to get students to write, and write often, for a real audience. This webinar will explore the practical, ethical and legal issues of blogging. It will also discuss pedagogical ways of organizing your class blog, as well as briefly introducing two blogging platforms.

Target Audience: Cycle 3 and Secondary

Sylwia Bielec is the editor of the LEARN blog. She is an instructional designer and pedagogical consultant at LEARN with expertise in professional learning, reflective practice and informal/community learning. She also has a background in English literature and media production.

About Susan van Gelder

Susan has over 20 years experience in the classroom at the elementary level, first as a homeroom teacher and later as an ICT teacher. She has presented sessions and workshops at a number of conferences, both in Canada and the U.S. Her work with LEARN is directed towards providing materials for teachers and consultants to help with powerful ways of using technology to improve communication and learning. She wrote her first blog post in 2005.
