EMSB Urban Beekeeping: Schools Collect their Honey!

September held a unique surprise for students returning to seven schools of the English Montreal School Board (EMSB). Travis Hall, Career Development Consultant at EMSB, reports that after installation and a successful series of workshops last year, the beehives set up in the spring were now stacked high with boxes filled with frames of honey.

Perseverance pays off for GrEau at Mecatina School

Congratulations to the Mecatina School students, teachers, and the village of La Tabatière in the Littoral School Board for persevering with their goal to win the OSEntreprendre contest. The student project, GrEau, which is a hydroponic green vegetable growing operation, was a 2016 grand prize winner in OSEntreprendre.

When four students at Mecatina School started growing hydroponic lettuce and herbs as their entry in the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest, they joked with teacher Chris Wong about one day supplying the entire Lower North Shore with fresh produce.
