Perseverance pays off for GrEau at Mecatina School

Congratulations to the Mecatina School students, teachers, and the village of La Tabatière in the Littoral School Board for persevering with their goal to win the OSEntreprendre contest. The student project, GrEau, which is a hydroponic green vegetable growing operation, was a 2016 grand prize winner in OSEntreprendre.

Making a “caisse” for entrepreneurship

There’s nothing like being entrusted with other people’s money to know real-world responsibility first hand. At Chateauguay Valley Regional High School, a dozen Cycle Two students are gaining exactly that experience. In partnership with Desjardins’ Caisse du Haut-St-Laurent, they are operating an in-school student “caisse.”

GOAL goes to the dogs

As part of their curriculum, students in Riverdale High School’s CFER program operate an e-waste recycling business. In converting an old TV console into a funky new dog bed, they used competencies learned through art, entrepreneurship and their workshop to raise money for a local organization that helps canines in need.

Acting on their own plan to help the stray cats in their neighbourhood, Grade 1 students at Verdun Elementary discovered that even very young children can make a big impact on their community.
